How it runs

The automated pipeline, trigger to output.

  • TriggerNew email in invoices inboxGmailGmail
  • ActionExtract vendor, total, and periodOpenAI
  • ActionLook up last invoice total for vendorPostgreSQLPostgres
  • LogicContinue only if increase exceeds threshold
  • ActionStore new total as latest baselinePostgreSQLPostgres
  • OutputPost price-hike alert to finance channelSlack

What it does

Vendors raise prices quietly between billing cycles and bury the change in a PDF. This workflow reads every invoice that lands in your billing inbox, parses the amount and vendor, and checks it against the previous invoice from that same vendor stored in Postgres. If the new total is higher with no corresponding usage change, it posts an alert showing the old price, new price, and the delta as a dollar amount and percentage.

When to use it

Run this if you pay recurring vendors by emailed invoice (SaaS tools, hosting, agencies) and want a tripwire on creeping renewal prices before finance pays them on autopilot.

How it works

  1. 1A new email arrives in the labeled invoices inbox.
  2. 2An OpenAI extraction step pulls vendor name, invoice total, and billing period from the body and attachment.
  3. 3The flow queries Postgres for the last recorded total from that vendor.
  4. 4A logic step computes the delta and continues only if the increase exceeds a set threshold.
  5. 5The new total is written back to Postgres as the latest baseline.
  6. 6A Slack message posts the vendor, old vs new amount, and percent change to the finance channel.
