How it runs

The automated pipeline, trigger to output.

  • TriggerWeekly Monday schedule
  • ActionQuery last two weeks of cost by owner and datasetGoogle BigQueryBigQuery
  • LogicCompute week-over-week deltas and rank top movers
  • ActionWrite breakdown and deltas to rolling Google SheetGoogle DriveGoogle Drive
  • OutputEmail top-movers digest with sheet linksGmailGmail

What it does

Every Monday it computes last week's scheduled-query cost per owner and per destination dataset, compares against the prior week, and writes the full table plus week-over-week delta columns into a rolling Google Sheet. It then sends an email digest that calls out the biggest cost increases and the queries driving them, giving leadership a trend view rather than a single-day snapshot.

When to use it

Use this for a weekly FinOps review where you need both the underlying numbers in a shareable sheet and a short narrative of what changed. Good for steering meetings where exact deltas, not just totals, drive the conversation.

How it works

  1. 1A weekly Monday schedule fires.
  2. 2Query `INFORMATION_SCHEMA.JOBS` for the last two weeks, grouping cost by owner and dataset.
  3. 3Compute week-over-week deltas and rank the top cost movers.
  4. 4Write the full breakdown and delta columns to a rolling Google Sheet tab.
  5. 5Email a top-movers digest with links into the sheet.
