What it does

Watches a defined list of competitors and the language they use to name your shared category. It searches Brave for each competitor's brand plus category terms, compares the dominant descriptors against the last recorded snapshot, and raises an alert when a competitor visibly switches the words they use to position the category.

When to use it

Use it when a single competitor's rebrand of the category can reset buyer expectations — for example when a rival starts calling the product an "agent platform" instead of a "workflow tool." Positioning and competitive-intel teams get notified before the new framing spreads.

How it works

  1. 1A daily schedule starts the check.
  2. 2Brave Search runs brand-plus-category queries for each tracked competitor.
  3. 3An OpenAI step summarizes the category descriptors each competitor now leads with.
  4. 4A logic step diffs the new descriptors against the stored prior snapshot per competitor.
  5. 5On a meaningful change, a Slack alert names the competitor, old framing, and new framing.
  6. 6The new snapshot is saved to Airtable for next run's comparison.
