Monthly Vendor Spend Anomaly Brief for Finance Leads
Once a month, an agent analyzes the full expense ledger for vendor and category spend anomalies, drafts a narrative brief with the top outliers and likely causes.
How it runs
The automated pipeline, trigger to output.
- TriggerMonthly schedule after month close
- ActionQuery full ledger and compute baselinesPostgres
- LogicIdentify material vendor and category outliers
- ActionPublish narrative brief to NotionNotion
- OutputPost summary link to finance SlackSlack
What it does
This is the month-end review companion. An agent pulls the complete expense ledger, looks for spend that drifted out of band at the vendor and category level (sudden vendor spikes, employees trending over their norms, categories blowing past budget), and writes a readable brief explaining what changed and why it likely happened. The brief is filed in Notion and the finance lead gets a Slack ping.
When to use it
Use this for a recurring month-end finance review when you want narrative insight, not just a flagged-row list. Best when someone needs a digestible summary of where policy is quietly slipping.
How it works
- 1A monthly schedule trigger starts the run after the month closes.
- 2An agent queries the full ledger from Postgres and computes vendor and category baselines.
- 3The agent reasons over the deltas to identify the most material outliers and probable drivers.
- 4It drafts a structured brief with rankings, dollar impact, and recommended follow-ups.
- 5The brief is published to Notion and a summary link is posted to the finance Slack channel.
