What it does
Every time a meeting invite lands or changes, this workflow checks how much of your day is already committed to meetings. If accepting the new invite would push you past your daily meeting budget (say, 4 hours), it declines the invite with a courteous message and logs the decline so you can review patterns later.
When to use it
Use it when your calendar is the path of least resistance for everyone else's priorities and your days quietly fill up. It enforces a hard ceiling on meeting load without you having to police every invite.
How it works
- 1A new or updated event on your Google Calendar triggers the run.
- 2The workflow totals the meeting hours already accepted for that event's day.
- 3A branch checks whether the new meeting would exceed your configured daily budget and whether you're a required attendee (not optional).
- 4If over budget, it declines the invite via Google Calendar with a templated note offering async alternatives.
- 5It posts a one-line summary to a private Slack channel so you have a running ledger of what was auto-declined and why.
