Sprint Planning Copilot: Capacity Review on Demand
On a Slack slash-command, an agent pulls the draft sprint from Linear, weighs it against velocity history.

What it does
This is an on-demand planning assistant. A planner triggers it from Slack while building the next sprint, and an agent reads the draft commitment from Linear, reasons over velocity history, and answers whether the plan is realistic, by how much it is off, and which issues to cut or defer to land safely.
When to use it
Use it live in sprint planning when you want a judgment call, not just a number, including which specific work to trim and why. Best for teams that iterate scope interactively.
How it works
- 1A Slack slash-command starts the run with the target cycle.
- 2The agent fetches the draft cycle's issues and estimates from Linear.
- 3It pulls recent completed cycles to ground its velocity reasoning.
- 4The agent evaluates commitment against capacity and ranks candidate issues to defer.
- 5It replies in the Slack thread with a verdict, the overage, and a prioritized descope list.
Set it up
What you configure once, before turning it on.
- 1Connect SlackChannels, DMs, threads, mentions.
- 2Connect LinearIssues, projects, cycles, triage.
- 3Connect OpenAIModels, embeddings, files.
- 4Set each agent's modelWe leave models unset so you pick the tier — fast + cheap, or top-quality.
- 5Tune it to your dataEdit the prompts, filters, and field mappings so it matches how your team works.
- 6Test, then turn it onRun once against a sample, confirm the output, then enable the trigger.
