What it does

Intercepts every new offer the moment it's recorded and compares the proposed base salary to the official compensation band for that level and location. Offers outside the acceptable range get held for explicit approval instead of slipping through.

When to use it

Run this when your team negotiates offers in spreadsheets and you want a hard checkpoint that catches band violations before an offer letter goes out — no more discovering an out-of-band hire after the fact.

How it works

  1. 1A new row in the Airtable Offers table fires the trigger with role, level, location, and proposed base.
  2. 2The flow looks up the matching comp band (min / mid / max) for that level and location from the Bands table.
  3. 3A logic step classifies the offer: in-band, below-min, or above-mid.
  4. 4In-band offers are written back as auto-approved.
  5. 5Out-of-band offers post an approval request to the #comp-approvals Slack channel with the gap, the band, and approve/reject buttons.
  6. 6The recruiter cannot proceed until a comp partner responds, closing the loop.
