How it runs

The automated pipeline, trigger to output.

  • TriggerOOO event starts on Outlook calendarOutlook
  • LogicVerify OOO/leave event and read end time
  • ActionCreate mailbox rule redirecting approvals to backupOutlook
  • ActionNotify backup in Slack with coverage windowSlack
  • OutputOn event end, delete rule and confirm resetOutlook

What it does

Uses an out-of-office event on your Outlook calendar as the source of truth for delegation. When the event starts, it creates a mailbox rule that copies incoming approval emails to your backup and logs the delegation. When the event ends, it tears the rule down so approvals route back to you automatically.

When to use it

You plan time off on your calendar and want approval delegation to switch on and off with it, without remembering to flip mailbox rules by hand.

How it works

  1. 1Trigger: an OOO-labeled event on your Outlook calendar starts.
  2. 2Logic: confirm the event is an OOO/leave event and read its end time.
  3. 3Action: create an Outlook rule redirecting approval emails to the backup.
  4. 4Action: notify the backup in Slack that they are covering approvals until the end time.
  5. 5Output: on event end, delete the rule and confirm delegation is reset.
